My day was going soooo well until I got this disgruntle email from a certain dick... You know who you are.... Oh wait, I deleted your stupid profile so maybe you dont. :)

"To the Admin, why the fuck are you trying to rip people off ? I donated to DarkTampa and now I have to donate again.  WTF?"

Honestly, we have gone through paypal and transferred all memberships for people who donated to DarkTampa.  Now, if you use a different email address than the one you listed with PayPal, sorry.  But a simple message maybe like...

"I donated on DarkTampa, can you please apply that to my account on TampaCouple"

Now, that would get a super fast response and probably a nice response.

Just for the record, I/we are not doing this for money... We just lowered the donation to $14.95 and truthfully we are LUCKY if even a couple people donate.

We end up footing the bill for the server and we are the ones who spend 24/7 developing and maintaining the site.  We end up spending approximately $200 of our own money to keep the servers humming and another $100 a month advertising.  That's after the donations have been counted.

But seriously, its getting a bit much receiving emails like this on a weekly basis and we are re-evaluating the entire project.

Why do we do it ???

1. Software Development is a profession and a hobby for us.  We dont get to do really cool stuff at our regular jobs and the site allows us to explore our skills.

2. We love meeting people.

3. We love to help people meet other people.

If you can't understand that, and you still want to flame me with nasty emails, then go ahead.  Being an admin for over 4 years has given me some tough skin.  Just dont come crying when I post it to my site!

Its been a while since my last rant but wow this one really makes up for it!!!!

After a major hard drive crash was discovered last night, I opened my email to get the following message from one of our less lovely members. 

BTW: I have deleted and personally banned this douche.  Although if you want, I would be happy to post a link to his DarkTampa profile since that site will be taken offline soon.

Sorry if you are the idiot who wrote this but at least I didnt post your pic.  Maybe you caught me at a bad time, as it was 1:30am after I got done finished feeding my newborn.  Or perhaps it's that I had to spend $500 to have a hard drive replace for a FREE site. 

Whatever the reason, your an asshole and had you approached me with a little more finese...

Nah, you suck!!!!

And since I dont feel like going back and forth with you via email anymore, I am posting my final response to you in public.

Your site sucks. Everytime I am on it for more than a minute, it freezes up and I cannot navigate on it. No link works after about a minute on your site. I have no problem with the dark Tampa site, but the Tampa Couple site is a pain in the ass.

Me:

You are the first person to report this issue out of 365 members.

While I appreciate your opinion, saying something "sucks" doesn't really sit well.

If you don't like it, then I can delete your account.

Mr. or Mrs. Overly sensitive aren't you? From my point of view the freezing up does suck. I am not going to curse at you, but I darn sure am not going to mince words for you as well. I have just installed this computer from Dell. I was thinking it was on my end, but I navigate perfectly fine on the Dark Tampa site, but the Tampa Couple  site freezes up after only a few minutes on it, so that does suck.

My final public response:

No, its really not a matter of hurting my feelings.  I have been doing this for years and believe me, I have taken much harsher critisim in public forums.  Its part of the job to be able to take feedback to build a better community.  We take pride in the fact that we continually solicate feedback from members and incorporate the changes so that everyone has the best possible experience.

But, if I were to walk into your place of business and just say "you suck" without giving you an opportunity to explain yourself, I am sure you would feel the same way as I do.  We are very passionate about this community, and if that comes off as sensitive then you are mistaken.
